THE BEST OF AUSTRALIA.
NEWS FROM AUSTRALIA:
Jamie Reed has once again continued to shine for Dandenong Thunder, scoring both goals in the 2-0 away win at Bentleigh Greens. He managed to bag both inside 20 minutes leaving Bentleigh with a mountain to climb against an inform Dandenong.
Northcote City met their match this week sharing the points with Altona Magic. The Australian Soccer Experience club had in fact been trailing throughout the game until a last gasp effort from James Kalifitdas somehow managed a 92nd minute equalizer to earn the home side a point.
South Melbourne are back to their winning ways with a convincing 3-0 home win against Melbourne Knights. Gianni Nittis was the hero of the day scoring a double and Marino Gasparis helped seal the points with a late finish to add salt into the Knights wounds.
Redlands United in the Brisbane Premier League were unfortunate not to maintain momentum drawing 2-2 away to Capalaba. The away side were trailing 2-2 however luck was on their side allowing them to get back into the game to earn a much needed point. Danny Byrnes equalizer on the 88th minute helped give the Redlands faithful a sigh of relief on the final whistle, keeping their finals hopes alive. Australian Soccer Experience recruits Nevin Saroya, Hayden Eames and Jack Lyons all featured in the game.
In the South Australian Super League, the Western Strikers suffered a horrendous away defeat at the hands of Adelaide City. Falling 5-1 at full-time a lot of questions will be asked as to what they can do to turn such a defeat around next week. The result was particularly bitter as the Strikers took the lead early on, only to concede 4 by half time. Chris Middleton of the Australian Soccer Experience featured in the game.
Balcatta in the Western Australia Premier league continued to impress with a solid 2-1 win over bottom of the ladder Cockburn City. Adam Tonge of the Australian Soccer Experience featured but did not get on the score-sheet, however Ashley Rosendale was the man of the hour scoring the winner for the central club in the 60th minute.
At the other end of the table, Stirling Lions scraped a 2-2 draw away to coastal club Sorrento SC. Adam Hayton of the Australian Soccer Experience managed to get himself on the score-sheet netting a penalty just after half-time to keep Sorrento in the game.
Bunbury Forum Force and leaguer leaders in the Western Australia division 1 did themselves no favours with a strong Bayswater City breathing down their necks. As the Forum Force fell 1-0 at home to Wanneroo City. The in-form northern club battled hard for 3 well deserved points. A little saving grace however was that Bayswater City only gained a point on Bunbury, giving them a get out of jail free card, however both teams know this late in the season with only 1 team gaining promotion they can’t afford to slip up points at the last hurdle.
